MUELLER, Barbara – It is with profound sadness, yet immense gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and family matriarch.
Barbara Dawn Mueller (nee Curl) passed away peacefully at the Niagara Falls Site of Niagara Health, in the 82nd year of her life after a short illness on August 2, 2023. Dearly loved wife of Anton (Tony) Mueller for almost 60 wonderful years of marriage. She was the proud Mother of Kevin (Ann), Michael (Diana) and Jennifer (Andrew Walker). Doting Grandmother to Paulina, Sophie, Emilie, Sara and Cole. Survived by her brother Robert Curl (Sue Grimstead) and sister Gloria Potyok (Jim) She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was loved by her many friends, particularly Mary Ellen, Bev and Enid. Predeceased by her parents Donald and Ethel Curl (nee Cole). Barbara grew up in Welland and attended Welland Highschool. She graduated from Waterloo Lutheran University with a BA in 1961 where she met her future husband, Tony. They married in 1963. After attending teachers’ college Barbara taught for three years at Kitchener Collegiate Institute. Raising a family then became the focus of her life- providing a nurturing and loving home for her entire family. Barbara was a kind, loving, and caring person as well as a devout Christian. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years serving in the Sunday School, Church Council, and various positions of the Baptist Women.
Barbara loved to travel, enjoying many trips to Disney World (including a special trip in October 2022 with her entire family) and Europe. She also enjoyed gardening, golfing, and shopping. Barb was perhaps happiest when her family was gathering at home to share a meal with love and laughter.
We would like to thank the excellent staff of the Trillium Unit at Niagara Health, Niagara Falls Site for their remarkable care.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations to Sick Kids hospital in lieu of flowers would be appreciated by the family.
