Aurele Belliveau Obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Aurele Belliveau at the age of 89 on Tuesday October 8th, 2024 at the Dr, Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre surrounded by his family.
Born in Pré-d’en-haut, he was the proud son of late Emile and Elizabeth (Gaudet) Belliveau.
In addition to operating his family farm, Aurèle worked as a barber and barber instructor at NBCC Moncton for more than 25 years. He also served as a devoted founding member of the Pré-d’en-haut Volunteer Fire Department and ambulance service, during which he occupied the role of Fire Chief for several years.
Aurèle loved his community dearly, with a special interest in his ancestry, often recounting funny stories about family members that brought him to tears. He also liked sports, especially boxing and hockey. We could say that he was a very loyal and passionate Montreal Canadiens fans.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Rita (born Bourgeois), and their four children, Janice (Gregg) Ingersoll, Gisele (David) Gould, Donald (Denise) Belliveau, Emile (Joanne) Belliveau, all of Pré-d’en haut, and his nine grandchildren, Christopher, Samuel, Maxime, Cédric, Amélie, Michaël, Chloé, Adèle, Simon, one great grandchild, named Luka and three sisters, Doris (late Emery) Cormier of Dieppe, Lucille (late Paul-Emile) Gautreau of Grand-Digue and Cécile (late Bernard) Lirette of Moncton and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one sister, Zita (late Joseph) Cormier and three brothers, Paul-Emile, Edgar and Donald.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to his very devoted home care team and to many medical professionals who have supported him with his healthcare.
Visitations will be held at Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook, on Sunday October 13 from 1 to 4 pm only. Funeral mass will be held at Notre Dame de l’Annonciation Roman Catholic Church, Pré-d’en-haut, on Monday, October 14th at 11 a.m. followed by his interment in the parish cemetery.
