Obituary
Annie Patricia (Hurley) Fortune went on to glory surrounded by her loving family on September 21 in the Harbourstone care facility, where she resided for the past 2 years. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Angelina (Ranson) Hurley.
Annie was an avid volunteer for many years at the Army & Navy Ladies Auxiliary Unit 217, New Waterford, where she was a member for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Lions Club where she served at weddings and funerals for many people in the community. Chances are if you attended a wedding or luncheon, she served you. Mom loved a good game of cards and enjoyed going to play bingo.
She was affectionately known in Harbourstone as ‘Nanny’ and you could find her dancing and singing along to whoever was playing music. Family was her true pride and joy, and she loved her girls with all her heart, and we sure knew it. The warmth of her love and big smile will be missed beyond measure.
Annie leaves a legacy of love to mourn her passing with her daughters and grandchildren:

Elizabeth (Leo Popwell) Morrison, Andrew Morrison, Jillian Morrison.
As well as 34 Great Grand Children, many nieces and nephew’s special niece Elaine Parsons, her go to anywhere angel.
She is also survived by her brothers Wilfred «Duck» Hurley (Carmel Hulme) and her sister-in-law Norma Hurley.
Besides her parents, Annie was predeceased by her husband Gervase Fortune as well as sisters; Margaret (Thomas)MacNeil, Mary (Frank) Rice, Florence (Joseph)Campbell, Bridget (William) Lozinski, Theresa (George) Gouthro, brothers; Joseph (Florence) Hurley, Thomas (Mary) Hurley, Michael (Madge) Hurley, William (Mary) Hurley, Douglas Hurley.
Also, a son in infancy, son in laws; Donald Campbell, Donald Hibbert, Butch Angione, Stewart Morrison.
We would like to thank the workers at Harbourstone for taking such good care of mom, your care and compassion made the hard transition into her ‘home away from home’, which for the most part she was content, but a part of her always longed to return home, she is home now, in the arms of Jesus.
Visitation will be held at McLellan Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 5-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, October 3, 2022, at 10 a.m. in The Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Avenue, with Father Godwin Obike officiating. A luncheon to follow at the Lion’s Club, New Waterford.
A graveside committal service will be held on October 11th at 10:00 a.m. in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Father Jim Oliver officiating.
