Annie Morrow Gebhardt
1940-2024
Annie
Morrow Gebhardt, surrounded by family and friends, passed away
peacefully on September 28, 2024. Born in County Donegal, Ireland in
1940, Annie was the eldest daughter of David and Isabella (Hunter)
Lindsay. The Lindsays immigrated to the Annapolis Valley in
1952.
A
lifelong educator, Annie pursued her passion for teaching after
graduating from Nova Scotia Teachers College and later studying at
Acadia University. Her teaching career took her to schools across
Canada. In 1965, Annie married Captain Ronald Gebhardt and together,
they made homes in Halifax, Toronto, Germany, St. John’s,
Summerside, Ottawa, and finally Somerset, Nova Scotia, on their
cherished farm, Ashburne.
Annie
was warm and gracious to everyone she met. She is predeceased by her
beloved husband Ron, her parents, her dear grandson William, her
brother William, and her best friend Sherald. Annie will be deeply
missed by her children: Andrew (Alexa Vodicka), Jennifer (Grant
Poulin), and Peter (Andrea Van Zoost). She was a devoted grandmother
to Madeline, Ava, Evelyn, and Emmett. She also leaves behind her
sisters Jean (Charles Mackenzie), Sarah (William Nee), and Kathleen
(Basil Hall), along with many nieces, nephews, and
friends.
A
service to celebrate Annie’s life will be held at Christ
Church Anglican in Berwick on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:00
a.m., followed by a reception in the church hall. Donations in
Annie’s memory may be made to Christ Church. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
