Anna Palermo, age 86, passed away surrounded by family at Southlake Regional Health Centre on August 16, 2023. Anna was a loving wife, mother, sister, nonna and bisnonna.
She was born January 18, 1937, in Salemi, Sicily to the late Maria and Leonardo Maltese. In 1956, she married her beloved husband, Francesco Palermo. They moved to Canada shortly thereafter.
Anna lived a full life dedicated to her family and friends. She worked hard as a pieceworker and seamstress and kept a beautiful home with her husband, Francesco, where all were welcome, and many holidays were celebrated. Anna loved her family deeply and often showed that love through food, serving delicious meals and sweet treats to anyone who visited. Anna also loved music, dancing, fashion, and travel.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Crocetta (Frank), and son, Stefano (Bonnie). She was the proud nonna of 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Christopher (Tracy), Matthew (Jennifer), Daniela (Will), Melissa (Anna), and Joshua. She was a bisnonna to Adam, Casey, and Isaac and had many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday August 20th, from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7, Vaughan, ON.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 300 Ansley Grove Road, Woodbridge on Monday August 21 at 11am. Entombment will follow at Westminster Cemetery, 5830, Bathurst St., North York, ON.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Newmarket Health Centre – Long-Term Care Home and/or the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation
