Andrzej Urbanowicz June 8th,1927 – June 4th, 2024
Andrew passed away peacefully on June 4th, 2024, a few days before his 97th birthday. Beloved husband of the late Irma Angermuller. Loving father to Roland, Tina and Nicole, and son-in-laws Zig and Martin. Cherished Dziadzius to his three granddaughters Breanna, Juliana and Sarah and grandson-in-law Jireh. Andrew made a lasting impression on everyone he met regardless of how long you knew him. Andrew was a WW2 Polish soldier in the Warsaw Uprising. After the war, he studied in England and pursued a career in civil engineering. He moved to Canada and worked for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for over 35 years designing bridges and later managing a computer support team. After retirement, Andrew invested much of his time pouring into family and spending time with his granddaughters. Andrew also worked tirelessly reaching out to the community of Oak Ridges and beyond, including serving his church and helping newcomers learn English even in the last weeks of his life. His life story is a testimony of his character, resilience and faith in God. Thankfully, he has left a legacy in his wonderful, faithful family, in the lives he has touched and in the autobiographies he has penned.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill. A funeral service and luncheon will be held on Saturday, June 8th starting at 10:30 am at Oak Ridges Church, 8 Aubrey Avenue, Richmond Hill. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Oak Ridges Church or Margaret Bahen Hospice.
