It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of our beloved, Andrew Douglas Hodder, 36, in Fort McMurray, AB.
Born in North Sydney, NS on August 20, 1987, Andrew was the cherished son of Douglas Hodder and Susan (Foss) Hodder.
Andrew is survived by his loving spouse and soulmate Lacey, daughters Aybri and Isla, parents Douglas and Susan, sisters April (Derek) and Holly (Kody), grandparents Ronald and Christine, nieces and nephews Hannah, Thomas, Kaitlyn, Olivia, Leland, and Eva, brothers-in-law Alexander, Ian, and Andrew, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him immensely.
Andrew was predeceased and now reunited with his grandparents Kenneth and Annie (Mercer) Hodder, uncles Gerald, John, and Samuel Hodder, and aunt Joan Hodder.
Andrew will be remembered fondly for being one of the greatest guitarists of our time. His skill and talent was simply unmatched and it was an absolute gift to hear him play. He poured his heart and soul into music. Growing up he dedicated countless hours perfecting his skill, and his dedication to music was a testament to who he was as a person, for he applied that exact same passion, love, and devotion towards everyone he loved.
Andrew held an unwavering ability to light up a room when he walked into one. He was the kindest, caring and most gentle soul. He wore his heart on his sleeve and always put others before himself. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humour, his obsession with donairs and ketchup, and his unconditional love for his family and friends.
Andrew shared a special bond with everyone who had the pleasure of having him in their lives. He was a proud family man who prioritized his wife and daughters. He held a special bond with his parents and thoroughly enjoyed their daily conversations. He cherished his childhood memories with his sisters, enjoyed quality time with his nan and gramp during trips home to Cape Breton, and loved a good jam with his family and fellow musician friends.
Our lives are changed forever now that our Andrew has left this world, but he has blessed us all with beautiful memories to cherish. He was the most outstanding man and truly one-of-a-kind, an incredible gift to this world. He will be dearly missed, but whenever we experience a thunder and lightning storm we will know that it is Andrew shredding his guitar from above for us all to enjoy.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Andrew at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney, with Patrick O’Neill officiating.
