Ana was born on 17th of January 1937, the third child of Gheorghe and Elena Dobra in Rod, a small village in Transylvania, Romania.
She grew up during the difficult times of the Second World War, together with her two sisters and one brother, and attending local school. Later, she moved to the nearby city of Sibiu to attend high school, and then completed her studies for a successful carrier in accounting.
In 1961 she married Constantin Mihailescu, a military pilot, and they eventually settled in the town of Medias, Sibiu County, where their two children Anca and Octavian, were born and raised. Later on, the family moved to Sibiu where Ana lived until 2007 when she followed her children to Canada.
Maman will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, very generous, trustworthy, and humble person, who would always thought of and help others first.
Ana passed away on August 31, 2024 at the age of 87, after a long illness, at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody British Columbia. She is survived by her daughter Anca Mihailescu, her son Octavian Mihailescu, daughter-in-law Cristina, grandson Cristian and granddaughter Monica.
There will be a viewing and service for those who would like to say their last goodbye to Ana on Tuesday September 10, at 3:00 to 5:00 PM, at Kearney Funeral Service, 219 6th Street, New Westminster, BC.
Burial service is being held on Wednesday September 11 at Robinson Memorial Park Cemetery, at 1:00 PM, following a liturgy at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church (220 Carnarvon St, New Westminster) at 11:00 AM.
Ne-o vom aminti mereu pe Maman ca o mama si bunica iubitoare, o fiinta blândă, delicata, generoasa si de incredere.
A fost o persoană bună, credincioasă, cu suflet curat şi cu frica de cele sfinte, care a pus mai presus de toate familia, copiii şi pe Dumnezeu.
Dumnezeu sa o odihneasca in Pace!
