Amelia Marie England, aged 93 of Milford Haven, formerly of Middle Melford, Guysborough County, passed away Wednesday March 15th, 2023 at the Milford Haven Home for Special Care. Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Ryan and Mary (MacDonald) Ryan.
Mom was a member of the St. James Anglican Church in Middle Melford. When Mom was younger, she tried her hands at a couple of things. She worked at the fish plant and Tip Top Restaurant in Mulgrave. Later on, she worked for years at the Skye Motel as a cook.
She is survived by daughters, Heather (Jackie) Antigonish; Sherma, Port Hawkesbury; son, Floyd (Maxine), Mulgrave; grandchildren, Darryl, Michelle, Amanda, Tommy, April, Aaron, Shannon, Nicholas, Ryan and Emma; and nine great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly; uncle Winston (Grace) England, Antigonish; sisters, Betty Lou, Gail, Joy, Carol Ann, Linda, Wanda and Joanne; brother, Lawrence (Tara) Ryan; sister-in-law, Annie.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; sons, Wayne and Stephen; sister, Annabelle; brother, Allister; brothers-in-law, Jimmy MacLeod and Allan Freer.
Mom loved children; I guess that’s why our house was always filled with our friends and neighbors. Mom loved to play cards almost as much as she loved the Blue Jays. Our mother had a heart of gold and worked hard all of her life. She taught us right from wrong and always made sure we came first. Mom enjoyed her grandchildren; always bragging about one or the other. Our mother had no idea how much she was loved by so, so many.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation as per Mom’s request. Funeral service will be held on Thursday March 30th, 2023 at 11am from St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave; Rev. Allan MacPhie officiating. Following the Funeral service, there will be a reception at the Mulgrave Fire Hall. Memorial donations can be made to St. James Anglican Church or to a charity of your choice.
