In loving memory of Alpo «Al» Haaranen, 88 years old who passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Beloved husband and soul mate of Elli (predeceased). Loving father of Linda Foerster and Sheila Haaranen. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Christopher, Thomas, and Melanie.
Dear son of Leevi and Vieno (Lakanen) Haaranen both predeceased. Dear brother of Antti Haaranen (predeceased). He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews.
Al was a dedicated family man and a hard worker, working for over 35 years at Vale (INCO) prior to his retirement. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found in his workshop at the back of the garage working on custom woodworking projects. When that was no longer possible, he enjoyed watching home renovation programs. Al was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the Finnish War Veterans Association.
Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St, Sudbury. Visitation on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11am with internment at the Civic Cemetery on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10 am.
