Memorial Donation
It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Alphonsus
“Phonse” Hayes at his home on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 in the
presence of family at the age of 80.
Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mary Agnes Hayes; mother and
father -in-law, Francis and Angela Lavigne; sisters, Mary Holly and Irene
Antle; brother-in -law Tom Furey; sisters- in-law Lorraine Dinn, Jeanette
Mercer and Helen Smith and niece, Tara Veri (nee Holly).
Leaving to mourn his best friend and loving wife of 59 years, Marie (nee
Lavigne); sons Derrick (Debbie Morrissey) and Darrin; daughter, Korie (Steve
Ivey); grandson, Kyle Ivey and grand-daughters, Brooklyn Ivey and Nicole
Shea (Blake Newman). Brother, Gerard (Kathy); sisters, Rosalita (Len Walsh);
Bernadette (Kevin Walsh) and Madonna Furey; brothers-in-law, Tom Antle
and Bill Holly; special family friend, Tony Bennett as well as many nieces and
nephews.
Phonse was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle as well as
an avid outdoors man. He loved a great hunting trip or fishing on a good
salmon river but his greatest love was time spent with his family. Phonse was
also a true animal lover and leaves behind his special dogs, Daisy, Sadie and
Louie.
Special thanks to his wonderful care-giver, Joan Colson, Father Al Credo for his
visits, prayers and blessings as well as to Dr. Emmanuel Jones for his care and
support over the years.
Services have been entrusted to Broughton’s Funeral Home and cremation has
taken place. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice or with a
random act of kindness.
