Mullaney,
Allana, 71, died peacefully surrounded by the love and
presence of her family at the Palliative Care Unit at St
Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish on June 5,
2023.
Raised on a farm in Southwest
Margaree, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm (the
«Bud») and Elizabeth (Gillis) MacLellan.
She will be dearly missed by her
supportive and loving husband of 47 years, John, their children Brad,
Montreal, Krista (Antoine Paccard), Val David, Quebec, her
granddaughters and greatest joys Jane Margaree and Mira Elisabeth;
sisters Anna Matheson, Belle Cote, Marilyn (Bruno) MacNeil,
Kingsville, Janet (Aldie) MacInnis, East Lake Ainslie; sister-in-law
Joan MacLellan, Southwest Margaree; brothers Peter (Vicky) Wilmington,
Massachusetts, Gerald (Barbara), Port Hood; and numerous wonderful
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by infant
sister Mary and brothers, Herbie, Eugene, Jack («RJ») and
his late wife Geraldine, brother-in-law Donald Matheson, nieces Lisa
Walzak and Betty Matheson.
Allana loved her career as a
teacher’s assistant; the children she supported, and her
colleagues were dear to her. She was always very involved in her
community and parish, as a dedicated member of the liturgy committee,
her cherished sewing group, the scouting movement, and volunteer fire
department ladies’ auxiliary. It was important to Allana to
volunteer in her beloved community and exemplify living a life of
service to others.
Allana’s light shone
bright; she radiated with love, enthusiasm, joy for life and a love of
others.
You knew that she loved you by the
big hug, the attention, support, and warmth she showed you. You
wouldn’t leave her house without a treat or two, or
five.
Allana was curious and authentic;
she loved to ask questions and learn. She had a connection to nature,
loved gardening, sewing, reading, growing her own food and taking care
of body and spirit. Her love for music and dancing were
evident when a Cape Breton fiddle tune came on – she would be sure to
play the spoons and step dance along to the jig.
Allana «Nana» loved her
grandchildren Jane and Mira dearly; baking, playing and dancing with
them before reading them a story and tucking them in with an extra
squeeze.
The family would like to thank the
health care team at 8A, VG Hospital, Halifax, the palliative care team
at St Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish and every health care professional
Allana encountered for providing her with compassionate and
professional care and accompanying her family on this
journey.
With her joyful spirit, she saw
the good in every person and the lesson in every moment, and that is
the gift she gives to us to pass though this difficult
moment.
Allana touched the lives and
hearts of everyone she met; we welcome you to continue her legacy by
showing kindness, empathy and radiate her light to
others.
Visitation will be in St.
Paul’s Centre, Havre Boucher on Sunday, June 11 from 2 to
4pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Paul’s
Church, Havre Boucher on Monday, June 12 at 11:00 am. Burial in the
parish cemetery.
Family flowers only, please. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: St Martha’s
Palliative Care Unit and St Paul’s Parish Luncheon Fund.

you mend…»
