It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allan Wallace Sparkes, age 86, on November 22, 2023, at The Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear. Born on July 18, 1937, in Georgetown, NL, Allan lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm and 7:00pm – 9:00pm, Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 10:00am – 12:00pm, 2:00pm – 5:00pm, and 7:00pm – 9:00pm at Broughton’s Memorial Chapel in Brigus, NL.
Funeral services to celebrate Allan’s life will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 2:00 pm from Broughton’s Memorial Chapel in Brigus, NL, with interment following at the United Church Cemetery in Georgetown, NL. The service will be officiated by Rev. S. Barbour.
Allan was predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth Sparkes, and his siblings Olive (William) Whalen, Noah (Violet) Sparkes, William (Jean) Sparkes, Charles (Elsie) Sparkes, James (Margaret) Sparkes.
Left to mourn his passing are his devoted sons, Allan and Leslie, and his loving daughter, Roxane (Steven) Hussey. Allan will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Devon, Ashley, Jessica, Kyle, Alison, and great-grandchildren, Liam and Brandon.
He will be deeply missed by his special nephew, Rev. John Sparkes, and special niece, Dorothy (Sparkes) Lawlor, along with a large number of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins, and friends.
Allan Sparkes touched the lives of many with his warmth, wisdom, and kindness. May his legacy continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
