Alice Yvonne MacLean
December 8, 1955 – May 5, 2024

It with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Yvonne MacLean.
Alice Yvonne MacLean: known to family and friends as Yvonne, passed away peacefully at 8:10 am on May 5th 2024 at age 68, with her eldest son by her side.
The loving mother of three was born and raised by the late Ina Margaret Marshall and Charles Edward Marshall in Cape Breton, Canada, on December 8th 1955. Yvonne was a hard-working woman who held such compassion and care for others that she pursued a substantial career in nursing and personal care work. Graduating from Nova Scotia Community College in 1999, Yvonne went on to collect several professional achievements. As a dedicated nurse she spent over ten years of her life working at Northwood caring for the sick and the elderly, working her way up to becoming a decorated first aid instructor with Saint John’s Ambulance. Not one to be happy with the bare minimum Yvonne also managed her own side businesses, every moment she could dedicate to bettering life for her and her children she did.
She loved the Bee Gees, country music and knitting in her free time, be it baby blankets for others or dresses for dolls. She crocheted and cross stitched, filling her house with a plethora of lovingly handmade items. She had a great appreciation for unicorns, not being able to see one without adding it to her ever growing collection.
Yvonne brought three beautiful children into this world; Dwayne Malcolm Anderson(46), Terri Lee Anderson(45) and her late son Charles Christopher Anderson. She raised her children with love, even while mourning the passing of her youngest son her children knew their mother was always there for them. A single mother who faced the world largely on her own, Yvonne was not a woman to lay down and take things as they were. She worked long hard hours to provide for her patients and children with love and care.
Yvonne also held a great love of cats, housing and raising many of her own as well as giving generously to support others. She regularly donated to the SPCA in both her and her daughters name just to help give unhoused cats a chance at a better life. Black cats were her favourite as she believed their lot in life was unfair.
She is survived by her eldest son Dwayne Anderson(46) and her daughter Terri Lee Anderson(45). Predeceased by her youngest son Charles Christopher Anderson. She will be greatly missed by her half sisters Charlene Marshall and Cheryl Marshall as well as her remaining family and her remaining fur babies; Magic, Mystic, Willow, Fluff, Cocoa, Shadow and Pin.
In lieu of flowers please donate to your local SPCA in Yvonne’s name.
