Alfred Emile Wood passed away peacefully at the Baldur Personal Care Home on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the age of 90 years.
Alfred leaves to mourn his wife of 65 years Mary and their children Glen (Laurel) Wood, Brenda (David) Gibson, Wendy (Dale) Pouteau, Gordon Wood (Shannon Campbell), Joanie (Lionel) Ricard and daughter-in-law Julia DeMare; grandchildren Dayle Rose, Carl (Amber), Shawn (Sara), Ashley, Donovan, Nicholas, Joshua, Christy (Scott), Cheryl, Darcy, Shayla (Scott), Tyler (Jenna), Marissa (Devin) and by his twelve great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister Jeannette Cory and sisters-in-law Martha (Paul) Vercaigne and Agnes Jarnouin as well as many nieces & nephews.
Alfred was predeceased by his infant daughter Barbara, his parents Walter & Rosa Wood, parents-in-law Louis and Johanna Willemen, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gerry DeBaets, Percy Berry, Herb Gerling, Jim Cory, Lionel Jarnouin, Margaret (Hubert) (Gaston) Buydens and Madelyn (Omer) Knockaert.
Dad was a farmer through and through. He lived on the home farm his whole life up until July this year when he had a stroke. He would often be seen picking stones or driving his quad around the neighborhood.
He also had a love of deer hunting. He proudly shot his last deer at the age of 89 years young. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Alphonse Catholic Church, St. Alphonse, MB, on Saturday, November 30, 2024 with Prayers commencing at 2:00 pm followed by Mass. Father John Te Nguyen as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the St. Alphonse Parish Cemetery.
Following the interment, a reception will be held in the St. Alphonse Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Memorial donations may be made in Alfred’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg, MB, R3P 2T5.
