«The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind!»
It is with profound sadness, that the children of Alex George Pelley of Bishop’s Falls, NL, announce his peaceful passing, at his home in Bishop’s Falls, NL, on August 11, 2023, at the wonderful age of 94 years. Dad was born on September 2, 1928, the eldest child of the late Fanny (Rendell) and W. George Pelley of Bishop’s Falls, NL. Dad was a very humble, compassionate man who absolutely loved every moment of his life. He was always appreciative of life’s simple pleasures and treasured each new day to the fullest. He was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather who had strong morals and dreams for his family. Dad worked for over 30 years with Gaden’s Ltd., Bishop’s Falls, NL later known as Wometco Coca Cola from where he retired as the Plant Foreman, then for several years he worked as Security at the Lions Max Simms Camp, Bishop’s Falls, NL. Although we, his children and grandchildren are absolutely heartbroken to lose him on this Earth, we find comfort in knowing that he is at eternal peace with his Lord, rejoicing with the angels and finally reunited with our precious Mom, whom he loved and missed immensely.
Left to mourn and honor his life are his three loving and devoted children; his only daughter, Paulette (Ben) Hoddinott of Bishop’s Falls, NL; along with his two sons, David (Debbie) Pelley of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL and Roderick Pelley of Bishop’s Falls, NL; his three loving grandchildren, Mark Pelley (Petrina Chubbs), Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL; David (Tammy) Hoddinott, Leduc, Alberta and Michelle Pelley (Trevor Andersen), Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL., as well as nine precious great-grandchildren; Jersey, Michael, JT, Nathan, Carliee (Roland), Natasha, Alycia, Kylie and Brayden and one great-great grandson Lucas. He also leaves his sister Effie Langdon of Botwood, NL., along with his sisters-in-law; Myrtle Pelley, Susan Pelley, Jane (Patrick) Murray, Barbara Cook and Linda (Peter) Bennett; brothers-in-law; Percy Jewer, Kevin Healey and Robert Smith, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dad also leaves to remember his life, special lifelong family friends, Wayne (Stella) Sheppard and Diane (Gurmit) Minhas, as well as his dear friends Roy and Patsy Antle.
Dad was predeceased by his wife and best friend of 62 years, our precious Mom, Pearl Georgina on March 17, 2017; his parents George and Fanny Pelley; brothers: George (Sadie) Pelley, Reg (Shirley) Pelley and Ray Pelley; sisters Mabel (Max) Walker, Grace Pelley, Hazel Jewer and Margaret Healey. He was also predeceased by his parents-in-law William Smith and Doris Smith Pretty; stepfather-in-law, Heman T. Pretty; his dearest lifetime friends, Thomas and Jean Sheppard, along with several nieces, nephews, brothers in law and sisters in law.
Visitation for family/friends will take place on Sunday. August 13th, 2023 from 2 – 4 P.M. and 7 – 9 P.M. at Hoskins Funeral Home in Bishop’s Falls, NL. Pastor Jeremy Foss and Pastor Rylie Young will conduct the funeral service which will take place on Monday, August 14th, 2023 at 2 P.M., from Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle, Bishop’s Falls, NL., followed by interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery on Bond Street, where he will be laid to rest beside of the love of his life, our Mom.
Pallbearers: David Pelley (son), Roderick Pelley (son), Mark Pelley (grandson) Ben Hoddinott (son-in-law), Wayne Sheppard (friend) and Roy Antle (friend)
No flowers by request of the family, however donations in his memory to the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle Cemetery Fund, Bishop’s Falls, NL. would be graciously accepted.
