It is with heavy hearts that the family of Albert Welton (105) announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on August 8, 2023, at the age of 83.
Albert is survived by his children Gail (Dennis) VanWart, Larry (Karen) Welton, Eugene (Wendy) Welton, Karen (Alden) Smith, Rickey (Susan) Welton, sister Shirley Russell and special friend Francine Harnish.
Albert will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Derek, Vanessa, Taylor, Jeremy, Holly, Pattie, Andrew, Cass, Kaylee and their spouses, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his cat Clint who has been his faithful companion since Shirley passed.
Albert was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years Shirley (Gallant) Welton, daughter Sherry Welton, parents Allen and Gladys (Butler) Welton and brothers Thomas, Donald and George.
Albert was born in Forest Home, N.S. on September 10, 1939 and lived in North Alton, N.S. before moving to Wirral, N.B. He drove school bus and delivered milk door to door while in Nova Scotia and was employed as a school bus driver/school custodian after moving to New Brunswick. After retiring he truly enjoyed being a «runner» picking up parts and delivering vehicles for Larry.
Albert was a kind and gentle man who always had a smile on his face and liked helping people. He proudly served his community by volunteering on the Hoyt Fire Department for 50+ years. He treated his fellow firefighters like family and they will miss his weekly «radio check» calls.
Special thanks to Dr. John Richardson for his exceptional care of Albert. Also thank you to the staff at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Extra-Mural for their excellent care.
As per Albert’s wishes, there will be no visitation or flowers. A private burial will take place at St. Columba Catholic Cemetery. You may express your sympathy by making a donation to the Tri-County Complex, the Patterson Settlement Historical Society or a charity of your choice.
