Vanos, Adrian
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Dad, loving husband and cherished Opa. Adrian Vanos passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll on Thursday, October 17 at the age of 85.
Beloved husband of Joanne for 60 years. Loving father of Joyce (Glenn), Harvey (Jenn), Patricia (Scott) and Mark (Amanda). Proud Opa to Mitchell, Madisyn, Alyssa, Sydney, Adrianna, Dominic, Kay, Zac, Cole, and Mackenzie. Dear brother of Teis, Ria and Nancy and predeceased by brothers, Wim, Jan, Frans, Theo and sister, Mien. Predeceased by his parents, Hendricus and Maria. Remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Adrian was born and grew up on his family’s farm in Mariaheide, Netherlands with his 5 brothers and 3 sisters. As a teenager, alongside working on the farm and at neighbor’s farms, he attended trade school for metal fabrication and drafting. He gained experience in his trade by working as a steel construction fitter, welding on big ships and at a farm equipment store. At the age of 20, Adrian was called to serve 2 years mandatory post WW2 army service. After his service, he continued working in his trade and over the years embraced every opportunity to upgrade his skills and certifications.
On August 18, 1964, Adrian married the love of his life, Joanne. In 1967, Adrian, Joanne and their first-born daughter, Joyce made the big move to Canada where they welcomed three more children, Harvey, Patricia, and Mark. Adrian worked hard all his life and was ambitious in his business pursuits becoming part owner of Bell Camp Manufacturing and later starting his own business, Vanos Welding. His trade as a welder extended beyond the industrial. He was very creative and loved to design elaborate fencing and other artistic pieces. Despite his business success, he always put family first and loved to host big family gatherings. He adored his grandchildren and always took an interest in their lives attending as many of their sporting events and celebrations as he could.
Adrian was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and in 2002 was elected as the Grand Knight, a position he held for 4 years and was extremely proud of. He dedicated many hours to the Knights activities in the community and their charitable pursuits. He was also the head pancake maker, well known for his delicious Dutch pancakes.
Upon his retirement, Adrian spent his time doing things he loved. Travelling with Joanne, playing cards with friends, doing puzzles, spending time with his kids and grandkids, and working in his beautiful gardens.
The family would like to thank the third-floor staff at Alexandra Hospital who provided excellent compassionate care during his final days.
Family and friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll on Sunday, October 20 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Knights of Columbus prayers at
