Adelbert’s Obituary
VAN BUSKIRK, Adelbert William – Age 87 of Villa Acadienne, Meteghan, formerly of Bloomfield, his birthplace, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023, in Villa Acadienne. He was the only son of the late Delbert and Hazel (Gray) Van Buskirk.
He lived a full life, always surrounded by many friends and family. Adelbert worked on the farm as well as in the woods and drove a school bus for over 20 years. He was passionate about his vegetable gardens, and loved to raise various animals, including ponies. Giving pony and sled rides to the children was a great joy. He was a longtime member of the Digby Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, being baptized in 1975. He enjoyed talking about his faith and took comfort in the scriptures. He loved to talk and tell stories.
Adelbert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bernice; children, Carolyn (Garry) Sykes, Crista (Bartolome) Garcia, Charlie (Cheyenne), Coralea (Paul) Carey; sister, Dorothy Bishop; grandson, Gabriel Van Buskirk.
He was predeceased by sisters, Flora Van Buskirk, Hilda Coolen, and Bessie Minard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on March 11, at 2 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Conway.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of Villa for their exceptional care, and also to Drs. J. Chandler, A. Blinn, and J. L. Dugas.
