Obituary
Passed away peacefully at Brightshores Health System – Owen Sound Hospital on September 17, 2023. Born in Maurik, Netherlands on November 3rd, 1950, Aaldert Cornelis of Chatsworth, was in his 73rd year.
Beloved husband of Donna van Eck (nee Henry) for 29 years. Lovingly remembered by his mom Jean van Eck (nee – van Mourik).
Proud father of Jeff, Lisa (Scott), Tony (Leslie) and Ian (Jen). Cherished Papa of Robbie (Abi), Trish (Josh), Kiersten (Thomas), Brock (Julia), Lucas, Brandon (Sarah), Alexa and Kirby. Loving Great-Papa of Maddison. Dear brother of John (Elenor), Jane (Mike), Gilbert (Sharon), Renee (Roger), Steve (Carol), Marianne (Mike), William (Linda). Stepbrother of Lorrie. Ab will also be missed by many brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his father Marinus van Eck, stepmother Lou and sister Maria.
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Ab’s life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. with David Fries officiating. For those unable to attend in person, a recorded version will be posted online. Interment will take place in Oxenden Cemetery.
Ab was known, loved and respected throughout his community. He lived a loving life with his wife Donna and had a long career he loved with Hydro one. Retirement was well deserved, leaving Ab time to lend a hand with his family and neighbors, take off for the weekend with the trailer or putter in the yard fixing odds and ends. Cheers to Ab!!
