In Celebration of
Luigi Paron
March 8, 1934 –
August 16, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Luigi Paron on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the age of 89 years. He was surrounded by family who stayed with him to the end. Thank you to the team at Juravinski Hospital for all their help and compassion. Beloved husband of Aquilina (Lina) Paron (nee De Capite) for 61 years. Loving father of Mario Paron (Noreen), Amalia Caamano (Joe) and Fabio Paron (Kerry). Cherished Nonno to Sarah Palmieri (Philip), Luke, Caroline, Alexandra, Nicholas, Parker and Blake. Dear son of the late Mario & Maria (nee Tubaro) Paron and brother to the late Vittorino Paron (Vittoria), sister Lucia Della Maestra (late Ladino), late brother Gino Paron and sister Rita Paron. Luigi was loved and admired by many nieces and nephews as well. The void he leaves is immense and he will be missed more than words can express by all his family and friends.
Luigi (Gigi) was born in Codriopo, Italy and came to Canada in 1956. Like many in his generation he left family to search for a better life to support those back home. He married Lina and built a good life for his family in Canada. He was a dedicated employee at Stelco Parkdale works for over 35 years. A man who loved his family above all else, he was an incredible husband, father and grandfather who would stop at nothing to bring happiness to his family. In retirement, Luigi found joy in his garden, which was often enough to feed the neighborhood and wintering in Florida where his social nature quickly made him the unofficial mayor of Maderia Beach. A fairly computer savvy senior, Luigi would love to Skype family and the countless friends he had met along the way in life, no matter where in the world they were, streaming his nephew’s hockey games from Dallas, or reading several Italian newspapers on-line daily. We will miss the IT Support his kids and nieces and nephews had to provide.
Luigi lived his life always putting others before himself. Whether it was the bounty from his garden, the quantity of specialty lettuces he had discovered and grown from his own seed or the batches of his beloved pizzelle that he made, it was never about what he did for himself, but rather about what he could grow or make so that he could have extra to share with others. He inspired in his children and grandchildren a love of food, wine (homemade of course) and the importance of family and the bonds of friendship. For those that knew him, the values by which he lived his life were self-evident; Integrity, honesty, an incredible work ethic and a giving nature that were all exemplified daily. While it is never easy to say goodbye to someone who was so loved, we will cherish the memories we have with him and how lucky we were to have him for 89 years to share in the happiness he brought to so many.
