Donald, William Stuart « Bill »
Our lovely, positive, happy Bill passed away on Wed. Aug. 3rd quite suddenly after a short illness. He will be greatly missed by his entire family. His long history of joke telling and joy of life will be remember by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Frances « Frankie » and their two children Peter, wife Emmi, and daughter Jessica.
His first wife Ethel (nee Mountain) (predeceased) and their three children, son James « Jim » and Wendy Wilton, son David, and daughter Leslee Skidmore (Brian). He was very proud of his 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Bill grew up in NB but spent most of his childhood in Moncton. Predeceased by his father Alexander Donald (Tab), mother Helen Taylor, and his three older sisters June (Bowser), Caroline (Avard) and Nancy Titus, whom he always referred to having the love of three extra mothers. Bill’s younger brother Hugh (Joan Blakney) have remained close friends as well as brothers. Bill is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Bill was always a great student and first attended Mount Allison Academy before getting his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering at UNB and his M.Sc. in Structures at MIT. Although invited to become a teacher at MIT, he itched to be in the field and loved the many project he was involved with over that took him around the world many times, including living with his first family in Pakistan and Brazil while working on projects. He formed an Engineering Company with his partner, Carr and Donald later changed to CD Engineering after his good friends death. Bill continued to work at and be part of projects into his 80’s and loved every minute.
He enjoyed keeping fit and did twenty to thirty minutes of exercise several times a week, as well as exercise programs at the Burlington Seniors, badminton, walking with Jessica, and playing golf with son Jim. He loved watching sports, especially track and field, tennis and golf. He also enjoyed the many friends he made through bridge. His curiosity about the world around him never left him.
Bill wished to be cremated and his ashes taken to his happy place in Shediac N.B. where he spent his summers growing up. We will decide on a celebration of life at a later date.
Any donations should be sent to a food bank near you.
