Obituary of Wendy Patricia Warren
Wendy passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, with her family and minister by her side. Wendy had been diagnosed with ALS March 4, 2022, and progression of the disease was quite rapid. At age 69, she was devastated by this news, and did her best to live her last time as positive as she could. Wendy liked to be a social butterfly and loved to do activities with both her Red Hat Sisters and Crown Jewels of Canada. Many wonderful friends developed through the time in these groups. In April 2005, Wendy met the love of her life, Randy Warren and they were married September 23, 2009, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Their short life together was very fulfilling, and the love was evident to family and friends. Wendy retired at the age of 56 and it was because she was now able to be at home that she wanted to get a family pet. This would be Randy’s first pet ever and with some hesitation in May 2010 Magic, their Golden-doodle came to be with the family. She is a wonderful pet and has much love for all of her family. Magic was 8 weeks old when she came to the Warren’s and is still living with Randy at the age of 12 1/2 years. Wendy and Magic were a part of the St John’s Ambulance Dog Therapy program and would make weekly visits to retirement homes and schools. Wendy was always a member of the United Church of Canada and through the years was part of many Congregations. Her latest church family was with Sidney Westminister United Church in Belleville. A wonderful community of faith and she loved being part of this family. Reverend Richard Hamilton and all of the congregation were very supportive during her illness. Wendy was a kind and loving wife to her husband of 13 years, Randy Warren and a doting mother to Sarah Lynn DiGregorio (Williams). She is also survived by her stepson Chad (Katharine) Warren and her grandchildren, whom she considered her pride and joy: Dominic, Alexander, Harleigh, Sophia, Lily and Emma; as well as being blessed with one greatgrandchild, Nikki (named after her grandmother). Her siblings were a big part of her life, and she will be greatly missed by Sandy Fleming, Gini Fleming (Alfie Schmidt) and Debbi Woolsey (Doug Woolsey). Her nieces and nephew were also very important to her; Jim Gibbs (Amy), Katherine Vooys- MacDonald (Jamie), Michael Brito (Armandeep KaurPanag). Wendy is predeceased by her father John Leroy Fleming, her mother, Doris Winnifred Fleming (Garrett), her stepdaughter, Nikki Warren and her niece Kimberly Gibbs. The family will receive friends at Sidney Westminster United Church, Saturday 20 August 2022 from 1:30 p.m. -2:30 p.m. Funeral Service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Church for a small reception after the funeral service. A private interment will take place at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens, Ajax, on Monday, August 22. Arrangements entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel (613-968-2273). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sidney Westminster United Church.
