Obituary
Wade Edward Delong was born in Woodstock NB on December 12, 1973, to parents Harold and Nita Delong. He passed away at their family home on July 20, 2022, surrounded by his loving mother, the best friends and his beloved caregivers. Caregivers who came to be his family, as they worked to help him navigate the incredibly difficult road Parkinson’s Disease had placed him on.
Wade was predeceased by his father Harold, his brother Ryan and two of the best grandmothers he could ask for, Marilyn Strong and Ruth Delong. He is survived by his devoted mother Nita, brother Justin and sister-in-law Heather, Nephew Cale and niece Ryen. He leaves behind his goddaughter Olivia, daughter of his first love Leah and her husband Marco, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
After graduating high school, Wade used his natural talents as a designer and became an entrepreneur, opening his shop, Fabulous Finds in 1992. Wade’s success in the home décor business led him to the big city of Toronto, there, he attended Ryerson University, where he graduated with a degree in Interior Design. His love of art, architecture and beauty saw him travel frequently to New York and Montreal. He worked at a number of design firms, and came to specialize in condo design, earning him industry awards and praise for his efforts.
Complications due to Parkinson’s Disease forced Wade to return to his parent’s home in New Brunswick in 2015. This cruel, debilitating disease cut short the fabulous life Wade had made for himself in Toronto. It also robbed him of the career he so passionately loved. The next seven years he put up a valiant struggle, as his autonomy slipped away from him, and he was forced to rely on others to assist him with basic daily functions.
This journey was incredibly hard on his family. However, his mother Nita’s strength and determination saw him incredibly well cared for at home. As difficult as this was, Wade was surrounded by love and compassion in his final days. His all too short life was lived to the fullest, filled with dancing, creativity and passion.
There will be no public visitation or funeral service at this time.
A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation in Wade’s memory would be appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville NB.
