It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother Valora Needham on May 1st, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
On July 24th, 1952, a glorious baby girl was born to Matthew & Julia Pidperyhora in Wadena, Sask.; she was the youngest of five children. Growing up on a farm in Elfros, Sask, days were filled with chores, schooling and family time, all of which Valora shares memories of with great fondness. She graduated from high school and moved to Saskatoon Sask. to study Business College. From there, Valora moved to Calgary, AB and worked for 2 years.
In 1973, Valora found her way to Rossland, BC and landed a job at Cominco where she met her love and life partner Ron Needham; marriage followed in 1975. Ron and Valora have three children and raised their family in Rossland. Valora ensured family was of top priority, providing the best for her children; a home of love, support and the best home cooked meals. Valora enjoyed exploring the world, her travels included several cruises. Valora naturally is caring, compassionate and empathetic which led her to becoming a Care Aide with Interior Health for 25 years. Valora’s career was fulfilling, clients whom were fortunate to have Valora regularly expressed admiration and gratitude.
It wasn’t until 2005 that Valora’s truest treasures arrived, the birth of her first grandchild making her Baba. Valora has six grandchildren, each of whom share a special relation and bond. Having an adventurous side, Valora would take her grandchildren on her travels; several trips to Disneyland and riding the roller-coasters is just one memory of Baba they will cherish.
Valora was welcomed to heaven by her parents Matthew & Julia, mother-in-law Freda and sister Linda.
Valora is survived by her husband Ron; children Jason, Ryan & Tamara (Harold); father-in-law Ron Needham; siblings Edward (Adalice) Pidperyhora, David (Iris) Pidperyhora, Geni (Jack) Irvin; grandchildren Jasmine, Madalyn, Amaya, Natalia, Elliott & Charlotte; and numerous aunts/uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, love, support and meals during this difficult time. To the staff at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Oncology & Dr. Scotland, Emergency, Medical & Mat/Peds units for fighting alongside with Valora during times of illness. A special appreciation to Dr. Kuchenbauer, VGH, for being there for Valora into her final moments.
A celebration of Valora’s life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on May 14th, 2022 at 10:30 am. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
