Ruth Amonella Reid
– age 85, of Wolfville, formerly of Canaan, passed away on
Friday, December 23, 2022 in the Wolfville Nursing
Home.
Born in Lakeview,
Dalhousie, NS, she was a daughter of the late John and Jenny
(Barkhouse) Oickle.
Ruth was employed for
a short time at Blueberry Acres but her favorite job was being at
home. She enjoyed cooking and baking but not doing the dishes. She
will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by
daughters, Betty (Daniel) Reid-Phillips, Kentville; Diane (Murray)
MacBride, Canning; Joyce Reid-Rogers, Berwick; Faye Reid, New Minas;
grandchildren, Teri, Brian, Carrie, Ashlee, Sheena, Kelsey; great
grandchildren, Dylan, Alexandra, Shea, Ayden, Isabella and Oliver;
sister, Mary Keddy; brother, James (Debbie); sister-in-law, Lois and
extended family.
She was predeceased by
her husband in 2003, Howard; son, Ivan in 2012; sister, Alma Rose
Oickle and brothers, Lloyd, Maynard and Albert.
Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation, at Ruth’s request. A
funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7,
2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The family has
requested that masks be worn. For those unable to attend, a webcast
will be available at that time.
Donations in memory
may be made to Diabetes Canada or a charity of your choice. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
