Rudy Adlaf suddenly passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the age of 79.
Just like he dealt with all obstacles in his life, he managed through this short-lived illness and recently discovered cancer with courage, dignity and strength.
Rudy was born to the late Joseph and Frances (nee Vocel) Adlaf in Toronto.
He is survived by his wife Frances (nee Seminsky), the love of his life, whom he married on May 24, 1969.
Rudy was an incredible father to Mike (his wife Sandy), Paul (his wife Christina) and Cathy (her husband Mike). He was a proud Grandpa to Riley, Lauryn, Olivia, Alessio and Dante.
Rudy received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1967 from the University of Toronto and proudly worked for Cadillac Fairview for most of his career. He continued to work as Senior Vice President, Master Planning & Design and this January 2023 he would have celebrated his 50th year working at CF.
He was greatly admired and respected by all who knew him.
He loved to work with his hands and spent his time on countless home renovations. His creativity shone through whenever he helped his children and family design and build their homes, as well.
He made the best memories at the cottage where he would find his solace. His usual weekend ‘relaxation’ was never dull, his passion for design was evident through constant cottage improvements.
At his home, his pastime besides gardening was taking some downtime reading books in his favourite lounge.
Rudy was knowledgeable about the world and loved to share the things he learned with others. He possessed a grand sense of humour, always laughing and joking around. You couldn’t help but smile every time you spoke with him.
He will be forever remembered and missed by all who knew him.
Thank you Dad for making our family flourish with your wisdom and love.
Cremation has taken place and memorial visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga, (HWY 10. N of QEW) on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rudy’s name can be made to The Alzheimer Society of Canada.
