Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Paul Peder Pederson on Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at the age of 85 years.
Paul came from Ontario to Newfoundland in 1964. He worked in the construction business for 38 years (32 of those years with Western Construction)… there is probably not a road in Newfoundland that he hasn’t worked on. Even after diabetes took his eyesight in 2000, he faced all challenges and tribulations with courage, strength and humour and an always positive attitude. Paul was a quick wit with a unique sense of humour. He loved to chat, tell yarns and a great many conversations have been had over the years with many friends and family; giving advice or his opinion, whether you wanted it or not! He enjoyed spending time at his cabins, moose hunting, snowmobiling and his favourite pastime was listening to music.
Paul wholeheartedly loved his family; he was a caring and devoted son, husband, father, poppy, brother, and friend. He leaves to mourn with many loving memories: wife of 60 years, Loraine (nee Jacklin); son Peder (Robyn) of St. John’s; daughters: JoAnne (Randy) Hulan of Ft. McMurray, AB, Paulette Pederson of Stephenville, and Laura (Kevin) Tillman of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren: Ryan, Kody, Matthew, Andrew, Kaitlin, and Andrew; great grandchildren: Koston, Kinsley, Anna, and Mason; brother Oliver (Edith) Pederson; sisters: Beverley (George) Mylenchuk and Thelma Ogden; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
Paul was predeceased by: mother Solange “Sally” Gill and father Peder Pederson; brother Garry Pederson; brother-in-law Cecil Ogden; and fur babies: Lassie, Beau and Buddy.
Following his wishes cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21st from 2:00-4:00 PM at Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville. A funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 22nd at 11:00 AM from St. Stephen’s Parish. Interment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy donations in Paul memory may be made to the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation.
The family would like to thank the physicians and Staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital. Your kindness and compassion was greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.
Paul will be missed greatly and there are no words to express the sadness of losing such a wonderful husband, father, poppy, brother, and friend.
In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place no one else can ever fill.
