Obituary
It is with sadness the family of Paul Emile Berube announces his passing on December 20, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rivière Verte on August 16, 1940, he was the son of the late Ronaldo and Melina (Ringuette) Berube.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Donna Berube; sons: Michael and Wayne Berube; grandchildren: Kevin and Aaron; sisters: Jeanine (Eddy) Struthers and Marie Berube; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother Joseph Berube and sister Aline Pruneau.
Paul left Rivière Verte as a young man to do carpentry work in Connecticut with other family members. This move led him to enlist in the United States Military. There, Paul served honourably and with great pride and subsequently carried the discipline, dedication and teamwork gained from the experience to all he achieved upon his return to Canada. Family meant the world to Paul. He and Donna looked forward to the Berube family reunions where the clan gathered to share the bonds of love, stories, and good times. It was a joy for Paul to be with both the older and newer generations of his family. Just as Paul was a gift to his family, he was also a gift to his friends. He would be there to enjoy the good times and help through hard times. To say Paul loved boating is an understatement. He and Donna spent many years cruising and entertaining friends on the Kennebecasis and St. John rivers and in Douglas Harbour, a favorite spot to drop anchor. He was always ready to help fellow boaters and to do more than his fair share, particularly at the Renforth Boat Club. Paul served as Commadore and other positions on the executive. During launch and haul out events, Paul’s patience, kindness, and abilities were appreciated by all involved.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646- 2424) with visitation being held on Saturday, January 28, 2022, from 10 AM – 2 PM. The Funeral Service will follow in the Fundy Chapel at 3PM. Donations in memory of Paul may be made to the Legion Branch #69 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
