TURKO, Olga Lydia
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Olga Lydia Turko, aged 90, of Newbrook, Alberta, on Friday, April 8, 2022. Olga leaves behind her seven children: Connie (Victor) Kiefiuk of Penticton, BC, Darlene (Brian) Sadoway of Lac La Nonne, Brian Turko of Waskatenau, Diane (Ross) Adshead of Edmonton, Karen Turko of Mundare, Dave Turko of Newbrook, Kelly (Karen) Turko of Redwater; plus 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Olga is also survived by one sister: Lily Lazowski of Newbrook and one brother: Willy (Patsy) Nendze of Newbrook. Olga was predeceased by her parents Arthur & Martha Nendze, her son Vern, sisters Gertrude Gaudry and Martha Turko and her brothers Edward Nendze, Alfred Nendze and Otto Nendze, as well as daughter-in-law Debbie Turko, son-in-law Gordie Rosypal, granddaughers Brandy Sadoway, Candace Turko; and grandsons Myles Sadoway and Jonathan Turko.
Olga was born and raised on the homestead near Newbrook, Alberta. On February 24, 1951, she married the love of her life, John Turko and they settled on their farm near Newbrook where the raised their family. Olga will always be remembered as a sweet, loving, caring and generous woman, helping and feeding all who came to her home. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Those wishing to pay respects may do so at the Newbrook Community Hall on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Roger Manual officiating, and interment in the Darling Community Cemetery.
Special thanks to Dr. Paish, his assistant Teresa, Dr. Coma as well as those from Westlock Hospital that were so loving and caring during her short hospital stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Darling Community Cemetery where Olga’s husband John and other family members have been laid to rest.
