BULLEN, Neil Arthur
May 1, 1952 – May 2, 2022
And so our « Neilly Wheely », took the last train on Monday, May 2, in the Pembroke Regional Hospital at the young age of 70 years to a world without pain.
He passed away peacefully in the Pembroke Regional Hospital, a day after his big birthday. Having fought a long and very brave battle with Leukemia starting in 2014 and enduring all the side effects of a bone marrow transplant, he decided it was time. Neil was surrounded by his loving family at his time of passing.
Beloved spouse of Iris Schultes, dear father of Emma and Claire and family in the Greater Toronto Area, adored stepfather of Julian and Justine of Ottawa and brother to Keith (Mary) and Barry (Joanne).
Sadly missed by his nephews Jason, Bryan, Glen and his caring niece Jody and all of their families. His extended family and many friends in Europe, USA and Canada will always fondly remember Neil and his zest for life.
Neil is predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Ruth (Russel) Bullen, and his brother Barry Bullen of Toronto.
Neil was born in Toronto. A devoted railroader at heart he started wiring for CN at an early age and later became an engineer at VIA moving many thousands of people from Toronto to Niagara, Sarnia, Ottawa and Montreal. He loved this big responsibility with all its challenges and the travel aspects of his job. Neil liked to build and renovate his houses and to garden. He has a deep love for nature and animals, adoring his many golden retrievers over the years. His hobbies were music, playing drums, travelling, motorsports, entertaining and spending quality time with his close friends and family.
A special thank you to the whole BMT team and medical staff that has cared for Neil over the years. We also wish to thank our Cancer Society driver « Bill ». We do appreciate our friends and family who were a tremendous support during this challenging time.
Neil’s final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe. His life will be celebrated by close friends and family during a Celebration of Life at a later date with burial to be held at Our Lady of The Angels Cemetery, Brudenell. In memory of Neil, please coriander a donation to the Leukemia Society, the Ottawa General Hospital or the Pembroke Regional Hospital. Tributes, condolences and donations can be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com.
