Myra Ella Elliott
1928-2022
Myra Ella Elliott, 94, formerly of
Alma, passed away on November 17th, 2022, at Forest Dale Home where
she lived for the past few years of her life. She was born in
Waterside on July 19, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Norman
and Eva (Cairns) Akerley.
Mom was a housewife, devoting her life
to raising her large family. Having come from a family of nine
children and wanting to continue the tradition, she had nine children
of her own. She was always there for us and had a way of making each
of us feel like we were her favorite. She made her family a priority
and put our needs ahead of her own. She called each of us daily to see
how we and our families were doing and to see what we were all up
to.
Mom loved being at our large family
gatherings when all of the children and grandchildren were there. She
always provided love and support without hesitation, had a wonderful
smile, loved to laugh, and was a wonderful cook like her mother before
her. One of the most difficult things for mom was when she
got to the point where she could no longer make a pot of tea or cook a
big meal whenever we dropped in.
She appreciated our efforts to repay
all the love she had shown to us as we grew up, by ensuring that she
was well taken care in her later years and the love we expressed to
her on a regular basis. She eventually got to the point where she
talked about wanting to be with her loved ones who had passed on
before her. She is now experiencing the joy of that magnificent
reunion because of God’s faithfulness.

be away from the body and at home with the Lord» (2
Corinthians 5:8).
The following poem had great meaning
for our mother:
«We loved to come to visit,
spending time with you,
It never even mattered, just what we
chose to do,
For love was all around us, and warmth
was everywhere,
And every moment spent with you, we
felt your loving care.»
We were so blessed because of all she
did for us and treasure the love and kindness she showed us. We are
forever thankful to have had a MOM like you.
She will be deeply missed by daughters
Donna Elliott (John) of Moncton, Ramona Williamson of Moncton, Barbara
Morrisey (Hugh) of Hillsborough, and Brenda Hawkes (David) of Edgett’s
Landing; sons Parker (Verna) of Lower Coverdale, Grant (Phyllis)
of
Shepody, and Chris (Tina) of Moncton;
sisters Maxine Stevens of Lower Cape, Sharon Turner of Carolls Corner,
NS, and Linda Rossiter (Arnold) of Waterside; sisters-in-law Paula
Akerley of Alma and Mavis Akerley of Sus; 18 grandchildren; several
great-
grandchildren, step
great-granddaughter; and several great-great grandchildren; She will
also be missed by several nieces, nephews, and all of her extended
family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was
predeceased by first husband Parker Elliott; second husband Graydon
Martin; son Hewlett Elliott; daughter Golda Neufeld; sons-in-law Henry
Neufeld and Reg Williamson; grandson Shawn Williamson; step-grandson
Kurt
Neufeld; and great-great grandson
Graydon; sister Norma Steeves (Freeman); brothers Hewlett, Orley,
Winston, and Gerald; brothers-in-law Larry Turner, and Durley
Stevens.
She will be resting at the Albert
County Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday from 2-4pm. The
funeral service will be at the funeral home on Sunday, November 20th,
2022 at 1:00pm with Pastor Paul Steeves officiating. Following the
service, the family will be meeting in the reception area at
the funeral home for further sharing of memories and refreshments.
Interment will be in the Alma United Cemetery, Alma,
NB.
