Milton William Lantz 1927 2022

Obituary of Milton William Lantz
Lantz, Milton
Milton William Lantz was born on March 6, 1927 in the same farmhouse in which he would eventually raise his family. On April 13, 2022, Milton’s heart failed him, and he earned a well-deserved rest. Milton was predeceased by his mother, father, and his brother, Walter.
In his 95 years with us, Milton consistently broke the mold for the stereotypical Canadian farm boy born in the early 20th century. Milton’s faith drove his generosity, kindness, and loyalty, but he was never afraid to find his own path as well, leaving the farm in Normandy Township to come to Elmira with his cherished wife, Jean. Once there, Milton found a new home as a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, where he would continue to follow his faith as a valued member of the community, eventually serving as president of the Woolwich Seniors Association.
Milton exemplified how a man can be strong but lead with his heart, how a man can come from humble beginnings but learn wisdom, and he was never afraid to show his true feelings or take on a new perspective. Milton and Jean’s marriage of 72 years provided a stable foundation on which the entire family could build.
Milton could be “no nonsense” but he was always able to find the humour in life—that along with an unmatched work ethic and a regular hot toddy probably contributed to his longevity. He provided a noble example for his entire life for his sons, Dennis (deceased), Doug (Rhonda), and Perry (Gaye), and his grandchildren Adam (Courtney), Travis (Jessi), Matthew (Cassandra), Jesse, and Denise (John). His great-grandchildren Charlotte, Bennett, Josie, and Ezra will forever benefit from the path Milton helped lay for them.
Though Milton has moved on and found everlasting peace, through the lives and actions of those he left behind, he will never be truly gone.
Visitation will be held at Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, on Friday, April 22, 2022, starting at 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Masks are preferred, and there will be no reception following the service.
A private interment will take place at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Normanby Township.
