Mary Elizabeth Gorman “Betty” passed away in the early morning on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Montague, PEI. She passed away peacefully and quietly much in the same manner in which she lived her life. She is predeceased by her brothers A.J., Elemer and John, sisters Bernadette, Laura, Sally, Sr. Hilda, Susie and Mary.
A truly pleasant person, Betty was a devoted and loving mother to her 5 children Charlene (Paul), Bernadette (Jean), John (Joanne), Rosalie (Andre) and Anna (Robert). She made time for everyone with grace and joy. Nanny Betty leaves to mourn her 10 “guppies” Mark, Sarah, Carla, Michael, C.J., Mattie, Samantha, Ryan, Thomas and Imogen and more recently 2 great granddaughters Reese and Brooklyn.
While raising her family in Montreal, Betty worked at the Royal Montreal Golf Club for over 50 years alongside her sisters Celly and Susie. Upon her retirement, Betty returned to the island where her sister Celly and nephew Leo were her constant companions and eventually her care givers.
She leaves to mourn countless relatives and friends both in PEI, Quebec, and Ontario. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, ever pleasant demeanor, sense of humor, easy smile and loving nature. Betty will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the staff from Souris Home Care for their care over the past year and would also like to recognize the excellent care and compassion afforded to her by the nurses and staff at the Kings County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral mass for friends and family will take place at the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 11:00am with interment to follow in the church cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of Betty can be made to the St. Charles Cemetery Fund or the Eastern Kings Health Foundation (Souris Home Care).
