Loretta Ann Fox, 78, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 18th, 2021. She was born to John and Marie Fox, the 8th of 10 children, on July 8th, 1943 in Rossland, B.C. She lived and raised her children in Rossland until her divorce from her then-husband, at which time she moved to Penticton, B.C. and started a new chapter for herself. She put herself through school to become a care aid and so was able to help many people and touch many lives. It was at this time she met the love of her life, Ed Dickson. They went on to have many wonderful years together, traveling, golfing, and camping together until Ed passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease. Loretta left Penticton to move back to her home of Trail, B.C. to be closer to her family. While there, she volunteered at the Trail Regional Hospital and was very involved with the Holy Trinity Parish. She remained here until she moved in with her daughter Wendy. They lived together for many wonderful years in Creston and Kelowna and enjoyed all the wonderful things the areas had to offer. Loretta then moved to Nakusp B.C. in 2019 to live with her Granddaughter, Kara, and her family. She settled back into the small-town life and loved being close to her lifelong “sister” Shirley Wyatt (Cameron). She was a very social person and was actively involved with The Red Hats, Coffee at the Seniors, Seniors Exercise programs, Arrowtarian lunches, and The Catholic Church. Loretta was very friendly and outgoing and had no trouble making friends and meeting new people. She was “Nana” and “Grandma” to countless people and took everyone under her wing and into her heart. She spent as much time as she could with her Great-Granddaughters and loved living with them and getting to see them every day. They brought her much love and joy. When not with the kids, she loved Golfing, Camping, Mushroom Picking, and socializing. Loretta received a breast cancer diagnosis in March of 2020, had surgery, received treatment, and was doing well until the cancer returned with a vengeance in March of 2021. She moved into Halcyon House in November of 2021 where she went into Palliative Care. She remained positive and happy until the end, enjoying meeting the residents, doing puzzles, and playing Yahtzee. Loretta was a kind, loving, and compassionate woman with a huge heart who loved all who were in her life. She was also self-sacrificing and never shied away from caring for those who needed her help. Loretta lovingly cared for her eldest daughter, Marilyn, multiple times as she battled cancer. She would give anyone the shirt off her back and her last $5 if they needed it. She was the embodiment of love, selflessness, and caring. Loretta also had a sense of adventure, and at 63, not knowing any Spanish, went to live with Marilyn and her family in Spain for three months. She traveled extensively throughout other parts of Europe in the backseat of a small Ford, loving every minute. But her favorite was the bright colors of Parc Guell, in Barcelona. Although Marilyn and her children lived in Oregon, the distance between her and her family was never a problem as she was involved in the love and care of her grandchildren there, and shared countless loving memories and quality time with them whenever she could. Loretta, had the travel bug after the trip to Europe and was always up for a road trip and had a large bucket list of places she wanted to see. She went to Arizona numerous times, Las Vegas, and traveled extensively throughout BC. Loretta is survived by her two daughters, Wendy and Marilyn Letoria, her four grandchildren, Elise Egli, Kara (Brodie) Yano, Caoilinn, and Owen Haggerty, and her two great-grandchildren, Kaylani and Mika Yano. Also, her three brothers, Doug (Huguette), Len (Annette), and Ray (Tammy), and her beloved baby sister Helen (Fred). As well as numerous extended family members. There will be a celebration of life in the summertime for all who loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, in her name. The family wishes to thank Dr .Corchesne and the staff at the Arrow Lakes Hospital for all their love and care. Dr. M. Taylor of Kelowna for her cancer care.
