Obituary of Lois Evans
Lois Irene Evans (MacDonald) of Saint John, NB, passed away peacefully on June 15th, 2022, in Saint John at the age of 73 surrounded by her loving family. She is now dancing in heaven with her beloved David, who passed March 28, 2019. Lois was a mother, grandmother, sister, wife, friend, volunteer, bookkeeper, adventurer, and beacon to anyone that had the fortune to have known her. Lois was the second child of twelve, born on January 22, 1949, to Laura Lucilla (Patterson) and Edward Leo MacDonald.
She has joined her son Michael, and siblings Linda (late Louis), Ron and Wayne in heaven. She leaves behind her siblings Bill (Kathie), Esther (late Jim), Rick, Donna (Joe), Frank (Linda), Kevin (Margaret), Mike (Cathy) and Sherry, as well as her son Paul, and grandsons Cameron and Christopher. She is also survived by sister in laws Michelle and Heather, and her many nieces and nephews and Godson Justin and Goddaughter Kristin.
In her childhood Lois enjoyed swimming, music, dancing, and adventures with her siblings. Lois was married to her “hunka hunka burnin’ love”, David Robert Evans for 38 years. She knew David when she was a young teenage girl and they reconnected over 10 years later to become inseparable for their remaining days. They shared wonderful memories of travel together and much laughter and love. After graduating from Simonds High School in 1968 Lois went on to work at Coastal Bearings and Brenan’s to finish her career as a bookkeeper. In her youth she was a violinist in a Saint John Orchestra, she was also the first female Vice President of the Legion to which she was hard working volunteer with the poppy campaign and with track and field for youth. She was also a volunteer with Marathon By The Sea and on various committees throughout her life. There was always a place at her table for you, and you ate well, very well… we will all miss her cooking! She always had an ear for your troubles, a shoulder to lean on, a helping hand, a hug, words of comfort, and always kindness. She loved to dance, and smiles were always plentiful. She was a fighter in life’s challenges, and a friend to many. Her home was home to family and friends alike.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424), there will be visitation on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 2 PM to 8 PM and Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 12 PM to 2 PM with a Celebration of Life following in the Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2 PM.
