Obituary of Keith Burns
May 12, 1943 – November 28, 2022
With sadness, the family announces that Keith passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus with family by his side on Monday, November 28, 2022; George Keith Burns of Arnprior; formerly of Braeside was 79. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 54 years, Délia (nee Gareau); his children: Jeff of Braeside; Jennifer Wesbrook (Andrew) of Renfrew and Derrick (Amy Snow) of Carp. Cherished “Grandpa B” of Lindsay (Cody), Laura, Lacey, Sydney, Emma, Hudson, Bradley and Charlotte. “Great-Grandpa B” of Clara, Leah, Bellamy and Rose. Dear brother of John (late Nina) of Cold Water, ON. Predeceased by his parents: George and Clarissa (nee Leavoy) Burns as well as his sister, Jane Wilson (late Wayne). Dear brother-in-law of Renelle Smith (late Dave) of Barrie; Marie Gareau of Timmins and Micheline Lajeunesse (late Rolly). Keith will also be missed by his cousin Doreen Millar of Cornwall; his daughter-in-law, Julie, his fellow Euchre players, his many nieces, nephews and lots of great friends. Keith was born in South Porcupine and moved to Braeside at a young age. His parents took over the family farm. Keith loved sports of all kinds. He was an avid Euchre player.
He worked at Ontario Hydro, Gillies Bros. Lumber Mill and Sandvik Steel. He was a man of many talents who could build, fix or repair almost anything. He will be missed. Keith’s final care has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior where visitation will take place on Friday evening, December 2nd from 7 to 9 p.m. only. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Braeside on Saturday morning, December 3rd at 11 o’clock. A reception will follow. Interment Castleford Union Cemetery later.
In memory of Keith, a donation to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Braeside would be greatly appreciated.
The family wish to express heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital, The Ottawa General Hospital, The Ottawa Civic Hospital as well as The Renfrew Victoria Hospital Dialysis Unit, Home Care nurses, PSW’s, Father Robert Ryan, Father Cooper as well as family and friends for their constant support and prayers through Keith’s long journey.
