Obituary
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great -grandmother, Mother in Law passed away on November 10, 2022, in Fairview at the age of 87.
Jutta Strunk was born as Jutta Mueller in Erbach, Germany as a Farmers’ daughter. At an early age, she began to help her Parents on the farm and in the house.
After her Graduation from school, she began to work in a Clinic for sick kids. She wanted to become a nurse. But, after her very first day with the kids, her boss decided to put her in the kitchen as she was so touched by the sick children that she just cried the whole day and could hardly finish her duties. This was how she became a diet cook.
Jutta had two big heroes that she dearly loved. The first was John Wayne, and the other was her friend Horst. John Wayne was out of reach, so she decided to marry Horst instead. That was happening in 1955 in a hurry because young Elke was already knocking on the door.
There was no money for the Honeymoon, so they decided to go on Horst’s first Motorbike a good year later. But on the way south, just halfway to Italy, Horst had to turn around because Jutta became Homesick for missing her daughter and started crying again. But at least they had a glimpse of the black forest.
In the following years, she managed to build up a little Hotel Business (together with her husband). The Kids Elke, Klaus, Ulrike, Heike and George helped them, too.
Following their old Friends Gerhard and Lina, they immigrated to Canada in 1982, and Jutta found herself in a completely new world.
She started to work in the kitchen at the retirement home in Whitelaw and soon began to love her new life.
They started a little farm and built a house that always was full of life from visitors from family and friends from all over the globe.
Neighbours became friends, and there was always something to celebrate like it was back in Germany.
There was always coffee and a piece of cake waiting for the visitors at Horst and Jutta’s place.
They faced some hard times when their house burned down and when George, her youngest son, was suddenly and unexpectedly called to his maker.
She never really got over it and was never able to talk about it; her pain was too big.
But the years went by, and she and her husband built a life and a home here in Canada.
They got older and decided to retire and sell the farm.
They even tried to return to Germany but realized after a short while that their home was in Canada and not in Germany anymore.
When Jutta stepped off the plane in Calgary, she smelled the fresh spring and started to grin. « Home, finally! » she said to her husband.
So they came back and enjoyed their following years in Fairview.
Life continued until their age, and health problems forced them to move into the safe harbour of a retirement home. Even here, they managed to enjoy life together and make new friends.
But, after the passing of her hero and husband Horst, Jutta fell into a deep sadness and lost the joy of her life. Her Health faded, and she simply did not want to fight anymore.
She now has followed him again into a new adventure in an unknown realm.
She is not dead.
She is just gone.
Her Memory is still here.
And when we have to go someday, be sure she will be there to greet you with fresh coffee and home-baked cake.
Jutta leaves behind 4 Kids, 5 Grandkids and 9 Great-grandkids in deep grief.
