Joyce Elaine Blades (September 19, 1932 – September 16, 2022)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Elaine Blades. Born in Barrington Passage, she was a daughter of the late Murray and Muriel (Greenwood) Christie. Joyce passed away peacefully on Friday September 16th at the Surf Lodge in Lockeport.
Joyce’s greatest interest and love was her family and friends. She will be sadly missed but her caring spirit will live on in all of us.
Joyce was a member of the United Church of Canada in Shelburne and was very involved in several organizations; the Jordan Falls IOOF Ladies Auxiliary, the Jordan Falls Volunteer Fire Dept and the 4H of Nova Scotia. She loved to cook and feed her family and anyone in the community under the weather or in need. She loved to go shopping with her close friend Connie DeMolitor. Joyce sponsored several children that were without and needed assistance overseas. She loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always wanted to send something to each of them on their birthdays and Christmas.
She is survived by her sons Allison (Madeline) of Jordan Falls, Kevin (Quency) of Stillwater Lake and Paul (Sandra) of Shelburne. Her brothers; Lorraine, of Toronto and Bruce (Bertha) of Barrington. Grandchildren; Andrew (Michelle) Jordan Falls, Timothy (Emily) Leamington, ON, Bennett (Amber) Shelburne, Patrick (Nicole) Shelburne, Darren of Calgary, Christie (Tim) Halifax, Danielle (Roughan) Pickering, ON, Grayson of Halifax and Braeden (Taylor) Halifax, also, great grandchildren; Theo, Nixon, Elijah, Quinn, Ainsley, Asher, Leah, James, Ivy-Jo, Camden and Lucy.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister in law Florence and daughter in law Joanne.
A special thanks to Dr. Keeler, Dr. Riley and the Staff of the Surf Loge in Lockeport and VON Canada for their treatment and support of Joyce.
Arrangements are under the caring direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. A Funeral service will be held at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 58 Bulkley Street, Shelburne on Wednesday September 21st, at 2:00 pm. Donations in her name may be made to the Lake John Cemetery.
