Passed peacefully away on November 25, 2022 at James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander, Jon Albert Earl Evans. He was 63 years of age. Mr. Evans retired from McCarthy’s Plumbing & Heating. He is predeceased by parents Earl & Bernice Evans; parents-in-law Gladys & Harold Langdon; brothers-in-law Bob Mullins, Randy Benson, Harold Langdon Jr.; sisters-in-law Beverley Langdon and Kim Langdon. Left to mourn are his loving wife Karen; sons Matthew Evans and Ryan (Courtney) Evans; sisters Edna (Dave) O’Reilly, Marlene Benson; sisters-in-law Joan (Bill) Sharon, Shirley Langdon, Barbara Nelson, Audrey Langdon; brothers Glen (Carrie) Langdon, Tony Langdon; and grandchildren Jonathan and Nathan Evans.
Jon was born on August 7, 1959 to Earl & Bernice Evans. He first lived on what was called the «farm» in Northern Arm. After his father passed away he moved to Botwood with his mom and sisters. He met the love of his life at an early age and they just celebrated their 40th anniversary. They were fortunate to have two wonderful boys, Matthew and Ryan, and two grandsons, Jonathan and Nathan. Jon was a quiet, gentle man who loved his family dearly. He started his workign career at a young age with Bob Sceviour as a carpenter. He trained for oil burner mechanic at Placentia College of the North Atlantic and worked for 30 years at McCarthy’s in Gander until his retirement in 2019. He gained a reputation with his customers for his competent work. Jon loved a ride on his quad and skidoo, and enjoyed nothing more than a boil up. He was a trusting friend and would help anyone who needed a hand without hesitation. He will be sadly missed by Karen, his two sons, and all who loved him.
Public visitation will take place at Hoskins Funeral Home in Botwood on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Pastor Moral Bess will conduct the funeral service at Jubilee Pentecostal Temple in Botwood on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the United Church cemetery in Northern Arm.
Pallbearers are Matthew Evans, Ryan Evans, Nathan Evans, Jonathan Evans, Rod Burt, C.J. Thistle.
