It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Joan Arlene Mac Lean on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at MacGillivray Guest Home surrounded by her family.
Born in Juniper, New Brunswick on July 18, 1939, she was the daughter of Arthur and
Mabel (MacIntyre) Spence.
Joan was a homemaker and employed as a cleaner with Vocational School. In her earlier years she was a clerk at Eaton’s and Archie Nathanson’s.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to ma. Time spent with her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and fur babies was her life.
She enjoyed puzzles, cards, baking, crocheting, Halloween with the kids and overdoing Christmas. Spending time in the kitchen, making delicious meals for her family was a priority. Ma was famous for her sweet and sour meatballs and oven rice. We all cook this for every occasion, but “No one can cook it like nanny.”
Ma and her sister could always be found shopping anywhere the bus would take them. Baille Ard Trail was a favourite walking trail for her where you would find her with her brother and sister on Wednesdays followed by lunch at Tim Hortons.
Joan is survived by her daughters Margie (Donnie Porter) Babineau, Whitney Pier, Linda
(Brent) Duff, South Bar, Joanne (Sean Frison) Laite, Sydney, Carol Ann (Gordie)
Lynk, Grande Prairie, brother Darrell, Sydney, grandchildren Jennifer (Dan), Kristine
(Mitch), Victoria, Rhonda, Cory, Bella and Tristen, great grandchildren Takara, Tylen
Sophie, Jack, and Riley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, brother Billy, sisters Lorraine, Gail, Barbara, son-in-law Barry Laite and a daughter in infancy.
