Jean Eleanor (Davis)
Jean Eleanor (Davis) Mahoney, LRSM, died in Moncton, NB, on
Friday, October 28, 2022. Born in Halifax, NS on September
20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James and Edith (Barnes)
Davis. Jean was pre-deceased by her sister, Carol Ruth
(Davis) Whatley in 2015 and her husband, Michael Mahoney, in
2016. She is survived by her sister Dawn (Davis) Haddad and
niece Leila Haddad, of Ottawa, ON, and by her nephew, James Allan
Whatley, of Moncton.
Jean graduated from Moncton High School and attended the
Mount Allison Conservatory of Music, in Sackville, NB, and the McGill
Conservatory of Music, in Montreal, QC. She went on to earn
the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, London, England, in
Pianoforte Performance. Jean taught at Stanstead College,
Stanstead, QC, later returning to New Brunswick, where she taught in
the Bathurst and Moncton schools. Jean attended St.
George’s Anglican Church and was a member of the New
Brunswick Teachers’ Association (Retired).
Cremation will take place. There will be no
visitation. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on
Thursday, November 3, 2022, at St. George’s Anglican Church,
51 Church Street, Moncton. Interment will follow at Our Lady
of Calvary Cemetery, 460 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB.
