James’ Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late James Collier announce his peaceful passing with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 70 years. Born in Middle Barachois, NL, James was the son of the late Joseph and Agnetta Collier (nee Hilliard). He was also predeceased by his wife in 2018; Alice Collier (nee Shears), brothers; Clayton Collier, Johnny Collier, Levi (Bessie) Collier, infant baby girl sister, sisters; Kathleen Collier, Ruby Collier, Joan Fraser and father and mother-in-law; Edward and Florence Shears.
James leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his loving children; Randy (Gloria) Macpherson of New Glasgow, NS, Jennifer (Ephriam) Samms of Cooks Harbour, NL, Jody Lynn (Dwayne) Downey, Terri-Lee (Darrell) Fiander, grandchildren; Alyssa Downey all of Codroy, NL, Jacob (Abby) Macpherson, Hunter Macpherson, great-grandson; Toby Macpherson all of New Glasgow, NS, sisters; Mary (Richard) O’Gorman of Searston, NL, Evelyn (Calvin) Cutler of Nova Scotia, Martha (Eddie) Patry of Antigonish, NS and Beatrice (Carl) Reed of Ontario.
James also leaves behind his brothers-in-law; Jim (Leona) Kendall of Port aux Basques, NL, Don Fraser of Enfield, NS, sisters-in-law; Jane (Reginald) Skinner of Main Brook, NL, Delores (Walter) Janes of Codroy, NL, Nora Musseau of Stephenville, NL, Linda (George) Janes and Kimberly (Benjamin) Hilliard both of Codroy, NL, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, card buddies, dart buddies, bingo crowds, dancing partners and many friends.
The family would like to send a sincere thank-you to the nurses and staff at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre. Also a special thank-you to Dr. Graham and her team at the for the kindness, compassion and support.
In keeping with James’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8th from 7-9 p.m. from the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Codroy, NL from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, September 9th at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Jane Allen. Interment to follow at Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Codroy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James can be made to the family.
