Irene Lorna (Knudson/Power) Rosebrugh
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Irene after an eight month struggle in Renfrew Victoria Hospital. She is finally at peace and for that we are eternally grateful. Left to mourn her passing are her children Joan (Sam) Jamieson, Jim (Kimberly) Power and Mary Ellen Lariviere (Rob Veary) – her grandchildren Nicholas, Nathan and Samantha Jamieson, Rhiannon and Devon Power, Aaron and Kyle (Korianne) Lariviere and her great granddaughter Ezmay Lariviere. Irene will be dearly missed by her husband of 7 years, Roy Rosebrugh as well as his extended family. She will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Ken (late Patricia) Knudson, Harvey (Mary) Bell and her sister Maria (Wilmer) Reinert and her in-laws Geraldine (late Edgar) Paquette and Kelly (Maureen) Power. Her numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews will all cherish their memories of Auntie Irene.
Irene was predeceased by her brothers Harold and Paul Knudson and Raymond Tracey, her sisters Rita Pigeon, Alma Caughey, Dorothy Shier and Eileen Lepine and her first husband, Tom Power, in 2017
How do you summarize the life my mom lived in a few short sentences? Giving freely of her time, resourcefulness and talents to so many she was definitely one in a million. Mom had a very strong work ethic that she passed onto her children, a very giving heart and the ability to uncover the joy in the most mundane of tasks – ask anyone who ever deboned a turkey with her during one of the hundreds of celebrations she cooked for. Mom was a wonderful baker and equally talented «short» order cook – she could make the simplest of meals be one to remember.
Mom was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxilary in Eganville and Renfrew for over 50 years and the Silver Seniors were graced with her enthusiasm for an extended period of time. Many people will remember mom for the theatrical talents she shared through the years at the Irish plays that were always popular or her uncanny ability to bring to life the unforgettable Sister Mary Amnesia in the productions of Nunsense by The Bonnechere Little Theatre Group. To the children of the valley, and those young at heart, mom will always be remembered as their Mrs. Claus – a role that brought her and endless amount of joy and pleasure.
Mom gave each of us the strength to stand on our own, the love to come together as a family even when we disagree and the simple knowledge to know this is not the end – just the beginning to a different relationship with Mom/Nanny. Mom was loved, and appreciated, by many and will be missed beyond measure by all. Love you forever and a day.
