Hewat Arthur Saxby Monday March 28th 2022 avis de deces

Saxby, Hewat Arthur-Martin’s Brook/Mill Village
Passed away peacefully on March 28th at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his wife by his side. It is with deep sadness we said our goodbyes but we also recognize the passing as a true blessing so there would be no more pain and struggles but comfort and peace.
Hewat was born on December 24, 1945 in Lunenburg. The only son of the late Arthur and Mabel (Falkenham) Saxby.
Loved and missed by his wife of 49 years and two months, Cynthia (Wolfe). They had four children; S/Sgt. Jonathan (Tanya), Whitehorse, Yukon, Jennifer, St. John’s NL, Jeffrey (Evelyn), New Chelsea, NL, James (Kelly), Bridgewater.
He had eight grandchildren (Rylee, Owen, Maren, Theo, Hugo, Catherine Rose, Edward and Rudy) who made him beam from ear to ear.
He is also survived by sisters Heather (Ken) Pate of Halifax, Susan (George) MacKay, New Glasgow, Wendy Ellis, Dayspring, Diana Saxby (Blair Murphy), Fall River, Teena May (Mike Hatcher) of Bridgewater.
Hewat left school early to join the crew of M.S. Vema- an oceanographic research ship as the Officer’s Mess Man, captained by Henry Kohler. They navigated twice around the world. The incredible opportunity gave him a wealth of stories which he loved to share.
Upon returning home he and his father raised purebred Landrace hogs. He was proud to have helped raise the Landrace boar that got the record price in NS at the time. The adventure was extra special because it was one he could learn with his father.
Hewat was gifted with an inquisitive mind. Self-taught, he always worked with determination and perseverance to never give up when faced with challenges. He possessed a natural smartness and intuition about how things worked especially if there was a motor and four wheels involved. He turned his talents to the automotive industry running a garage, towing and auto salvage business and selling lawn tractors (green ones). He took great pride as “fleet co-ordinator” to fix all vehicles for the RCMP in Lunenburg County for many years.
He was a proud and devoted family man. He possessed rock solid values of “honesty, truth and good conduct.” A motto to follow and one he was proud to see passed on to his children and hopefully their children. He believed in strong character and good ethics.
He recognized so many proud moments he had with his children. He was that “spirited” fan during basketball games. His buttons burst with pride about their accomplishments and one didn’t have to repeat the question when asked how his family was doing. There was always time for a lengthy conversation.
Throughout the course of his years of declining health he was always determined to face the next “speed bump”, with the attitude “OK, what do we do now? Let’s get it done.”
He was always grateful to have such knowledgeable, compassionate and helpful professional people guide him from one problem to the next.
“Forever in our Hearts”
