Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta
Glen will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed by Allan (brother)/Debbie, Riina (sister)/Bernard, Dore (nephew)/ Shawn, Aliina (niece)/Eric, Kaydence, Owen, Noah, Jayce (great niece and nephews) and many close family friends.
Glen was predeceased by his mom, Aune Marjatta Heinonen in April 2019 and his dad, Ahti Aukusti Heinonen in March 2022.
Glen was an easy going, gentle person with a good heart.
We will miss his easy smile, his teasing of the kids, and his endless stories. He loved the lake and enjoyed some travels where a beach was usually involved. Glen enjoyed sports, especially football and hockey. He loved putting on skates and playing hockey when he was younger with his older brother and close friends. In his later years he became an enthusiastic spectator of sports. He also enjoyed teasing his many nieces and nephews in his immediate and extended family and the kids couldn’t wait to see him. When Glen wanted to kick back with family and friends, he would always enjoy a cold Budwieser and share his latest stories with great zest.
Glen had a long-standing career in the scaffolding industry where he enjoyed his job and his many coworkers/friends. He looked forward to Thursdays with some of them enjoying a beer at Fargos. He was a long-standing member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Glen on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Fargo’s (5804 Terrace Road, NW, Capilano) from noon to 3 pm.
Our family sends gratitude to the Misericordia hospital and especially to the University of Alberta hospital Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made the University Health Foundation, select cardiac as the area to support.
