Handy Paris Miller, age 96, passed away on April 14, 2022, secured by his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was born to John and Rachael Elizabeth Miller in Maynardville, TN. Handy was a member of Alice Bell Baptist Church, where he worked in the bus ministry and taught an intermediate-age boys Sunday School class for many years. Prior to a career in sales, Handy fought in five campaigns (Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, and Ardennes) as a tank cannoneer in the Fifth Armored Division during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Rachael Elizabeth Miller; brothers, Charles, Earl, Icus, and William Fulton Miller; sisters, Grace Slattery, Marilla Booker, Estelle Campbell, Lucy Kate Johnson, and Bobbie McClain.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joanne Scandlyn Miller; daughters, Joan (Tony) DeDominick, and Jan Miller; son, John Miller; brother-in-law, L.E. (Mickie) Scandlyn; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Bridges Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather for a graveside service and burial at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Greenwood Cemetery with Allen Johnson officiating.
