Grace Louise (Cameron)
MacKay – 90, Lochaber,
Antigonish County. It is with great sadness that we announce the
peaceful passing of our mother at Vimy Court, Bible Hill, on
Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Grace was born in Ashdale, Antigonish
County, and was the daughter of the late Alexander D. and Elsie C.
(Croft) Cameron.
Grace moved to New Glasgow and worked as a bank teller. She
moved to Lochaber and married Donald MacKay and they had four
beautiful daughters. She ran the Post Office for many years and was a
long-time member of Lochaber United Church where she served as
treasurer and also taught Sunday school. She enjoyed spending time in
her vegetable and flower gardens and playing cards with family and
friends. Most of all, she enjoyed her home on the lake. She was a
loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly
missed.
Grace is survived by her daughters, Heather Livingston
(Gerard), Janet Daye, Dawn Griffiths (Donald), Leah Nichols (Wendell);
grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Mark, Aaron, Jennifer, Cailen,
Brandon, Vanessa, Holly, Jessica, Matthew; 17 great grandchildren;
sister, Janet Dagley; sisters-in-law, Harriet Cameron and Nettie
Cameron; her faithful companion, Princess. Along with her parents, she
was predeceased by her husband, Donald MacKay; son-in-law, David Daye;
granddaughter, Alicia; brothers, Tommy, Allister, Donald,
Ian.
We would like to thank all the staff at Vimy Court for the
care and compassion that they showed to Mom.
Celebration of Grace’s life and interment in North
Lochaber Cemetery will be held at a later date. If so desired,
donations in Grace’s memory to Colchester SPCA or a charity
of choice are welcomed.
