Gordy was born in the Burnaby Hospital, B.C. in 1964. He, along with two sisters, Brenda Zakall and Mary Ellen Gladish, were raised in Surrey, B.C. to parents, Fraser and Donna Gladish. Gordy spent his childhood camping and traveling around B.C. with his family. From about Grade 5 through his teens, Gordy and his family lived in Clearwater B.C. where he went to school, rode ski-doos, etc. In later years, Gordy met Mary Louie, his life partner. They had three stepchildren: Colette, Allan and Tyler Louie and two grandchildren: Ava & Jemma Louie. Gordy’s biological son is Robbie Gladish.
Over the years, Gordy tried his hand at many ventures and was never scared to try something new. He did everything from driving a bus for the Sen Pok Chin school, to running the O.I.B. Youth Center (with Mary), and in later years, he drove a Class B freight truck, (which took him across Canada many times). He enjoyed mechanics, and he had big plans for his Bronco.
Gordy had a heart for the youth and helped elders whenever he could. He will be missed by many.
Gordy’s wake took place on Friday, August 26th and he was buried at the Osoyoos Indian Band’s cemetery on Saturday August 27th, 2022.
The song dedicated to Gordy was Jamey Johnson – Lead Me Home
Thank you to the Osoyoos Indian Band for everything. Gordy’s send-off was incredible.
