Glenda Lynn (Budgell) Hughes– 44, Upper Onslow. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glenda on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She will be forever missed by her family and friends. Left to continue her memory are her husband, Chuck Hughes; her two children, Nicholas King (Allison) and Jayda; stepsons, Logan and Kyle; parents, Brenda and Graden (Mitchell) Budgell; father-in-law, Willie Hughes; maternal grandmother, Neta Mitchell; beautiful grandchildren, Mia and Isla; a large number of aunts and uncles. Glenda was predeceased by her little brother, Mitchell; paternal grandparents, Phillip and Olive Budgell; maternal grandfather, Augustus Mitchell; mother-in-law, Valerie Hughes; uncle, Les; cousin, Lori.
Glenda loved life and was always up for whatever challenge life threw at her. Her smile was infectious and would light up any room. Glenda loved to sing and was always the backup singer for her favourite singer, George Jones. With her arm raised, she would sing every word with so much emotion, she made the song hers. Glenda loved working with children; she started working in daycare and preschool settings and then in later years she was an educational assistant. She loved her job and students and she extended this passion with respite care within the community. Another passion of Glenda was her beloved Bear Cats hockey team. Glenda and her family were a billet family to many Bear Cats players and she loved to attend their games and was a true fan.
At Glenda’s request, there will not be a formal service but a celebration of her life at her home in Upper Onslow at 1 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2022. If so desired, donations in Glenda’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice are welcomed.
